Trust What You Hear (Devotional 7-25-18)

Dear Cornerstone Family,

The past few weeks we kicked off a new three-part series entitled, “Listen & Obey” with Dr. James Jacobs leading.

We must continue to understand there are many distractions around us keeping us from obeying what God wants us to do. Keep in mind, not every distraction is a bad distraction, but are you alert and aware of what is keeping you from doing what the Spirit is telling you to do?

In the book of Acts 8, Luke tells of Philips success in sharing the Good News of the Messiah! People were being healed and many acts of miracles were being performed. There was boundless joy among the people and new believers were being baptized. We could see how closely Philip was with the Holy Spirit and their relationship.

Philip did not hesitate to go and speak to the traveling eunuch as the Holy Spirit had instructed him to do. Philip listened to the eunuch’s questions and answered in the Spirit and shared the Good News of Jesus Christ with him. They had come alongside some water and Philip also baptized the eunuch.

You see looking at Philip’s close relationship with Jesus Christ and observing the way he obeyed the Holy Spirit, shows us what is possible when we listen and obey. This does not mean that we will always be successful in what the Holy Spirit tells us, but that we must obey what the Holy Spirit tells us.

This week, we will have an opportunity to dive into God’s Word and be encouraged to live a life that is set for Jesus Christ.

Join us this Sunday as we conclude our series on “Listen & Obey” God through the Helper He gave us.
