Fight Against Hunger Bake Sales
It’s that time of year to start fundraising for our annual Fight Against Hunger food packaging event. For the months of July – September we will have a bake sale on communion Sundays instead of snacks in the café. The first bake sale will be this Sunday, July 23rd and the next will be August 27th. If anyone is interested in providing baked goods, please see Jean in the courtyard at the Quilt table or email: email@example.com.

“Life As We Know It” Series:
Pastor David is teaching a series titled: Life As We Know It. This is a guided journey to the most important conversations we all want to have in different stages of our life. Each week we will discuss the next generation that follows. In different stages of life, it is often the little things that unexpectedly have the biggest impact, yet we continue living life as we know it. Be sure to join us as we address the five different stages in life with five very important conversations.
Generation Baby Boomers
Have you experienced a teacher or professor who was brilliant in their subject, but didn’t seem to care about you as their student?
Have you encountered a doctor or nurse who seemed to be a genuinely caring person, but only average in their skills?
This is a common experience and can be true in anyone from a plumber to a therapist. But when you find someone who is both competent and cares, that is an extremely valuable person. And this same example applies in the different stages of our life.
Members of the Baby Boomers are the demographic typically from the early-to-mid 1940s and end from 1960 to 1964. Increased birth rates were observed during the post–World War II baby boom, making the Baby Boomers a relatively large demographic group.
As a group, Baby Boomers were the wealthiest, most active, and most physically fit generation up to the era in which they arrived, and were amongst the first to grow up genuinely expecting the world to improve with time. They were also the generation that received peak levels of income; they could, therefore, reap the benefits of abundant levels of food, apparel, retirement programs, and sometimes even “midlife crisis” products. The increased consumerism for this generation has been regularly criticized as excessive.
As a Baby Boomer maybe you don’t feel like you have a lot to offer, maybe you think the best years of your life are behind you.
This generation has a treasure chest full of life experiences that will die and be forgotten unless we become intentional about sharing the knowledge and wisdom. The value of your life is found when we share those experiences.
Join us this Sunday as we address the different stages in life with conversations that may inspire Baby Boomers to do life differently. We may never know but these conversations just might start a chain reaction.
Whoever finds God, finds life!
