Dear Cornerstone Family,

Relationships are important and we all have areas where we can improve. This Sunday we will begin a new series on relationship building called, “I Will.” This may be the most important series of the year. Each week I receive prayer requests for relationships that are broken, hurting, and in crisis. Whether you are married, single, divorced, re-married, or dating; there is no one who is immune to the difficulty of developing healthy relationships. The good news is that God gives us wisdom on how to improve our relationships.

Through God’s love for us we learn how to love others. Therefore, 1 John 4:9b-12 (NIV) teaches us, “This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us.”

What an amazing passage! God is the one who initiated a relationship with us. He loved us first.  It wasn’t mutual, nor did we respond immediately. His love was more than feelings or words. His love took action by sending His son to sacrifice His life for our lives. Therefore, since He loved us, we are now indebted to love others.

As Christians we sometimes get confused thinking that the only thing that really matters is to love God, but it is more than just prayer and devotion to God. Our relationship with God is made complete as we learn to love others.

Join us this Sunday as we learn to improve in our relationships, because relationships matter!

Following Jesus,
